LINEAGE
Lineage emerges from an ongoing investigation into the artist’s family history and a desire to reclaim lineage as a living, relational system. The project situates personal memory within a broader network of inherited narratives, tracing how identity is shaped across generations.
Rooted in experiences of migration, the work reflects on displacement, adaptation, and continuity. Moving from northern Russia to the south, and later to Mallorca, the trajectories of different generations reveal how environments transform language, identity, and belonging. At the same time, intangible inheritances — cultural codes, values, rituals, and belief systems — persist, travelling across geographies and embedding themselves within new contexts.
Bringing together portraits and recorded voices of five generations of women, Lineage constructs a multi-layered narrative that moves between the individual and the collective. Each participant articulates what is most essential to her, contributing to a shared field of memory and presence.
The work approaches lineage as an energetic and affective entity — one that is continuously reshaped through time, experience, and transmission.
